The Woodland Glasshaus at Bavaria Downs hosted its very first styled shoot this Spring, and the result was nothing short of breathtaking. Inspired by the timeless, lived-in charm of Nancy Meyers and Martha Stewart, the creative team blended nostalgia with fresh, modern elegance—an aesthetic that felt as inviting as it did elevated.
Photographed beautifully by Marit Williams, with planning by Archifête and florals by Ashley Fox Designs, the shoot captured every thoughtful detail and soft, timeless moment of the design from start to finish.
The Vision
Planned and designed by Bree, the Owner and Lead Designer of Archifête, the shoot drew from muses Martha Stewart and Nancy Meyers to create a setting that was airy, layered, and full of quiet sophistication. “Classic does not have to mean boring,” said Bree. “Perhaps that’s too blunt, but someone needed to say it.”
Soft coastal tones—sky blue, off-white, and sage green—were chosen to evoke the calm, breezy feeling of the coast and cultivate a peaceful, inviting atmosphere. Texture and visual interest came through antiqued pottery, rattan lampshades, votives, and placemats, while potted herbs, hydrangeas, and matchbooks displayed in a vintage crystal bowl added a nostalgic, personal touch.
Thoughtful Design
The team wanted the shoot to showcase the versatility of The Woodland Glasshaus for a broad range of couples and events. Varied seating arrangements—banquettes, rounds, and harvest tables with two distinct chair styles—created a dynamic and inviting space.
To achieve a truly bespoke look, the team sourced linens, chairs, china, glassware, and flatware from five different rental companies, blending the best of local and national vendors, including Nuage, BBJ, Collected & Co., Linen Effects, and Apres Event & Tent. This approach struck a balance between grandeur and approachability—“crafting a design that felt elevated yet effortless,” as Bree described.
A Floral Story by Ashley Fox Design
The florals, designed by Ashley Fox Designs, told a story of spring’s fleeting beauty. Early-season blooms such as Lotus Moon Flower, Lilac, Muscari, and Snowdrops paired with the woodland touch of Solomon’s Seal echoed the texture and color of the tablescape. Inspired by breezy greens, whites, and soft blues, the florals’ shapes and textures complemented the woodland surroundings and thoughtful place setting details.
Florals were layered with thoughtful details that tied the design together. Lotus Moon Flower, with its fleeting one-week bloom time, echoed the texture of the eyelet rattan placemats, while blue Muscari hyacinth harmonized beautifully with the soft-toned linens. Artichokes and mini cabbage brussels sprouts were woven into the head table décor, extending the fresh green palette throughout the tablescape.
Flickering pleated hurricanes nestled between terra cotta containers brought a sense of warmth and romance to the outdoors-in setting. A standout floral moment was the seasonal Solomon’s Seal foliage and blooms inset into the entrance planter boxes—an understated yet impactful touch that welcomed guests into the space. “We leaned into the woodland without being woodsy,” shares Ashley Fox. “Single-variety designs, like white campanula in a footed terracotta bowl, create a soft but powerful moment.”
The model’s bouquet—a delicate mix of tulips, spirea, clematis, feverfew, orlaya lace flower, and campanula—paired perfectly with her rich, fitted satin gown, striking the ideal balance of romance and restraint. Even the cake echoed the floral story, adorned with snowdrops, muscari, and Lotus Moon flower to reflect Minnesota’s emerging spring blooms.
Quiet Sophistication
With its layered textures, nostalgic details, and spring-forward palette, the styled shoot at The Woodland Glasshaus shows how timeless elegance can feel fresh and approachable. By bringing the outdoors in with airy florals, natural textures, and woodland-inspired touches, the design proves that classic does not have to be boring—it can be layered, personal, and full of quiet sophistication.
